Curley McBroom here once again, is bringing you the latest and greatest
news from the West Prince Curling Club here in rainy west Prince.
Our Tuesday night competitive league is rocking along. It looks like the
team skipped by Kevin Ellsworth is the team to beat. But, don’t give up
hope yet. It is still early in the season.
Our Wednesday afternoon drop in league is the place to be on these rainy
afternoons. This is the league to join when you don’t want to make a
serious weekly commitment to curling. Teams are chosen each week with
the members available at the time. If this is a league that interests you,
please give our Manager, Lin a call at 902-859-2294 and she will give you
more details.
At this time, it looks like our annual Kevin Gallant Memorial Bonspiel is
going to be a great success. Lots of curlers registered. We already have a
wide selection of items and baked goods for the silent auction table. Be
sure to come back next week to see the end results, both of the winning
teams and the amount of money raised for the bursary at West Isle High
School in Kevin’s name.
Students from West Isle High School start this week to have their physical
educations classes at the Curling Club. This is a great physical activity
now and is a sport that can carry anyone through even into their nineties.
Upcoming events include:
Saturday, December 7 is our First Annual Ham & Turkey Spiel, sponsored
by Mo’s Independent Grocers. Come out for a fun time and a chance to
win a ham or a Butterball turkey. Stick Curlers pay $20 person and regular
curlers $25 person. Snacks will be provided throughout the day. Please
register by December 5.
Saturday, December 28 is our Family Social Curling and Dinner. Stay
tuned for more details.
Good Curling!
