It has been a slow news week at the West Prince Curling Club this week.
Due to technical difficulties, we were forced to reschedule our Monday
night league curling as well as our Tuesday afternoon stick curling.
Curling is an ever evolving game. So we are looking at introducing some
new things for our Winter 2025 season.
If you are a fisherman, either current or former, you may be interested in
our Friday Fishermen’s League. We are proposing to have games at 10:30
a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Participation is free to current or new club members
and $15.00 (including HST) for participants who are not currently members
of WPCC. With Christmas fast approaching a membership for the balance
of the season would make a great gift. League participants can also opt to
pay $120 (HST included) to cover the entire winter season.
Another league that might peak your interest is Doubles. This would be
held on Wednesday evenings and open to current and new members.
Let us know if you are interested in either of these leagues by sending an
email to wpcurlingclub@gmail.com or call Lin at 902-859-2294.
Regular league play will finish on Thursday, December 20 for this part of
the season. However, the Curling Club will be open and available for
rentals from December 23 to January 31. This would be a wonderful time
to bring family and friends in to show them what you enjoy. The cost is
only $35 per hour per sheet of ice. This is cheaper than bowling or a
movie. Call today to reserve your spot.
If you are interested in being a more casual curler, then Wednesday
afternoon is the time to come out to the Club. Are you wondering if the
knees still have what it takes to get down in the hack or maybe you would
like to give stick curling a try. Please give our Manager, Lin a call at 902-
859-2294.
Be sure and check back next week to see who took home all of the
Butterball turkeys and hams donated by Moe’s Independent Grocers for our
fun spiel held on Saturday, December 7.
Students from West Isle High School started last week to have their
physical educations classes at the Curling Club. This is a great physical
activity now and is a sport that can carry anyone through even into their
nineties. They are a joy to watch their enthusiasm.
Upcoming events include:
Saturday, December 28 is our Family Social Curling and Dinner. We will
be having some fun curling games as well as a Pasta Dinner. Gluten free
options will be available.
Friday, January 3, 2025 will be our next Friday Night Social Curling event.
Come out for some curling, music and snacks. Cost is only $10 for
members and $15 for non-members.
January 8 – 12 PEI Junior Championships will take place with
representatives from across the island competing for the Provincial Title.
Winning teams will go to the Nationals.
Good Curling!
